Warning - Pay Per Click Search Engines Can Lead To Bankruptcy
Back in 2003 when I first discovered pay-per-click search engines (PPCs) I was so exited because I found it hard and very time consuming to try to optimize my website for the search engines. I thought that PPCs were a true blessing, and a very effective alternative to search engine optimization. For two years I used pay-per-click search engines as my primary way of driving traffic to my websites.
I started out with Overture (now Yahoo Search), Findwhat (now Miva), and when Google Adwords came out I used it exclusively. Fast forward to 2007, now everyone is using PPCs as their main source of traffic generation, but the costs of keywords are way too high now.
To pay over $1.00 for a visitor who may or my not purchase what you have to offer, or subscribe to your list is too much of a gamble. There are numerous ebooks and courses that you can find that will teach you all kinds of so called “secrets” to winning at the PPC marketing game; but who has time for games? I don’t! I want guaranteed results!
Sure I bought all kind of pay-per-click courses, studied them, and followed them step by step; but I still paid more money than I was making. I have read many ebooks that focus on teaching the latest pay-per-click techniques, but I new there had to be another way to get targeted traffic to my sites without the risk of going broke.
Most of the real internet marketing Gurus are capitalizing on the fact that everyone is so obsessed and focused on using pay-per-click search engines as their main source for traffic. While everyone is paying for each click, the real Gurus are secretly using other traffic generation techniques that are not only cheaper, but more effective. Do you know what they are? You probably don’t because most internet marketers will teach you about traffic generating techniques that are less effective (for fear of competition).
Next time you purchase another pay-per-click mastery ebook, think about how you heard about the ebook in the first place. I hear about most pay per click mastery ebooks before they launch, and I don’t hear about them by seeing an ad in the pay-per-click search engine results. You see the creators of these pay-per-click focused ebooks promote their ebooks by using other very effective and inexpensive traffic generation methods. If you look very closely, you will notice that it’s their affiliates that are promoting their ebooks through pay-per-click search engines, not them.
The key to marketing your business or product online is to do what the Gurus are doing, not what they are saying. This is very important. I didn’t start making money online until I studied more of what successful internet marketing Gurus were doing to lead me to their websites. If you focus more attention on article syndication, ezine advertising, forums, and hosting FFA’s, you should do just fine.
